Good Morning Hiring Department at ARUP:

My name is Tajinder Singh. I am a full-time, second year civil engineering student at the City College of New York. I’ve graduated from Thomas A. Edison Career and Technical High School with an honors diploma and education regarding architecture and engineering. During High School, I had learned manual drafting, AutoCAD, and Revit for one year each and am now a certified user of AutoCAD and Revit. Apart from learning, I am organized which allows me to work well under pressure and in closed deadlines. I am also multilingual. As I continue my education at City College on civil engineering, I’m only more fascinated by the field. That is why I look forward to earning an internship at ARUP to experience the life of a civil engineer.

Being an intern, I am able to provide my understanding and experience of manual drafting, AutoCAD, and Revit. Manual drafting is a skill that is undermined at this day and age because all drawings are creating on computer software. However, the fundamentals of computer-aided-drafting (CAD) are gathered from manual drafting and knowing how to complete a drawing without the aid of a computer is a good skill to have. On the other hand, CAD provides a better option because of its usefulness and efficiency. Which is why I am currently a Certified AutoCAD user. Building information modeling software (BIM) like Revit is also becoming greatly useful for their three-dimensional modelling which allows for better communication between engineers and owner of a facility. Thus, I’m also proud to say that I am a certified Revit user. Apart from technical skills, my work environment skills include organization, categorization and I can also work well under pressure. I am also multilingual. I can speak English, Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi.
